When I started B&B Developers & Builders in Vellore in 1995, I did not begin with the ambition of becoming the biggest. I began with a much simpler commitment: to build honestly, deliver responsibly, and earn trust one project at a time.
In the early years, every assignment mattered deeply to me. We were not taking on landmark-scale projects then, but even the smaller jobs carried a big responsibility. I believed that if we got the basics right – technical quality, safety, clear communication, fair contracts, and timely delivery – growth would follow.
And that is exactly how our journey evolved.
Trust is never given automatically. It is earned slowly, through consistency. One well executed project leads to another, one satisfied client opens the door to the next opportunity. That steady trust helped us grow across education, healthcare, commercial, industrial and residential work, seen in projects such as VIT R Block in Vellore, CMC Housing in Vellore, the Indian Oil office complex in Bangalore, Sherwood Villas in Vellore, and the cooling water system for the Super Thermal Power Plant at Udangudi, Tuticorin.
I have also been very conscious about how we grow. I have never believed in chasing rapid expansion at the cost of stability. We chose financial discipline, invested in technical capability, strengthened our in-house teams, and built systems that would help us deliver better, not just bigger We started with builds of 1,000 sq.ft. and today we execute around half a million sq.ft. annually, a scale achieved by steady investment in people, processes and technical depth.
Some of our institutional projects, including works associated with clients such as CMC Vellore and VIT, were defining moments for us. They demanded rigour, compliance, and consistency at a very high level. Those experiences shaped us.
Looking back, one belief has only grown stronger: in this business, your reputation is built project by project, promise by promise, and handover by handover. All residential projects planned and delivered by us are DTCP and RERA approved.
Even today, as we look at the next phase of growth, my thinking remains the same. I want B&B to grow with the same care with which it was built.
For me, success is not about size alone. It is about being known as a builder people can trust.
Because in the end, buildings stand on structure. But businesses stand on credibility. And we at B&B value the trust that our clients place in us.
