Vellore at an Inflection Point: Three Decades of Building for the Long Term

Cities don’t grow overnight. They grow through infrastructure, institutions, and intent.

I grew up in Vellore, a small town nestled in the Eastern Ghats, positioned between Chennai and Bengaluru and largely outside mainstream development conversations. Yet even then, its long-term promise was evident, anchored by institutions and industries built to endure.

A City Quietly Shaped by Its Institutions

For decades, Vellore was quietly shaped by a few institutions. Christian Medical College (CMC) gave the town global recognition in healthcare, VIT shaped generations of engineers and technologists, and a strong public-sector and industrial presence, including Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and the Ranipet industrial belt, created livelihoods and economic stability long before growth corridors became fashionable.

As these institutions expanded over time, B&B had the opportunity to contribute to several residential and commercial developments that supported their growth, aligning our journey closely with the city’s evolution. These were not overnight successes. They were the result of patience, planning, and a sustained belief in Vellore’s fundamentals.

The Momentum Coming Together

Over time, that foundation evolved. The region expanded beyond its original identity as a service and manufacturing town into a broader economic and industrial ecosystem, and today that shift is clearly visible. Vellore now stands at an inflection point. Investments such as Jaguar Land Rover, the mini Tidel Park, the upcoming CMC Ranipet campus, and long-awaited infrastructure like the Vellore airport are not sudden breakthroughs. They represent decades of momentum finally coming together.

Three Decades of Building for the Long Term

At B&B, our journey has grown alongside this transformation. For over three decades, our focus has remained unchanged: building responsibly, planning for the long term, and creating spaces that stand the test of time.

Vellore’s growth story has been a patient one, and it is far from finished. For anyone travelling the highway between Chennai and Bengaluru, it is a city worth stopping to look at more closely, because the opportunity here has been decades in the making.
